新年あけましておめでとうございます！ 初投稿になります、協力隊 中井です。 去年の６月に牟岐に来てからの半年間はあっという間でした。 新しい人との出会いが沢山あり、ほんの一面ですが牟岐の文化や食に触れることができ、感動することばかりでした。 今年も、牟岐の魅力をたくさん見つけて、もっと伝えていけるようになりたいです。 伝えるだけでなく、新たな魅力も生み出していきます。 牟岐の方をはじめとして、多くの方にお世話になると思いますが、今年もよろしくお願い致します。 新年早々とても大きなタイトルですが、これは自分が最近読んだ本で元農林水産省林業試験場木炭研究室長の杉浦 銀治さんという方が書いた著書のタイトルです。 この方、10年の役職を終えた退官後も木炭の研究と普及に努め、「炭やきは地球を救う」を提唱して国内外で炭やき指南の旅を続けており、現代の木炭需要と再評価に多大に貢献されている方のようです。 炭焼き そもそも何故今このような事に関心をもち記事を書いているのかというのは、自分の中で去年の一大トピックであった西又地域で修復され現在も継続的に備長炭をつくっている炭窯が復活したこと、他の協力隊と共に自分も微力ながら関わりをもっている事がきっかけです。 そしてこの先、町内外で炭というものについて自分が人に何かを伝えようとする時や活用方法を考える際に、炭について現在に至るまで解明されている機能や性能、そのものの価値をまず自分なりに”知る”ことから始める必要があると感じていたので本を読み、実際にブランドとして地位をもつ紀州備長炭というものを使用してみて、年末に生産現場へ足を運び、市場の実際について話を聞いたりしてきました。ここで全てを書き記すと長くなるので省略し、今感じていること、調べてみたことを自分の中で印象に残ったテーマ「生活の質と炭」に絞って記録しておきたいと思います。 Quality of Life（生活の質） Quality of Lifeとは人生の質、又は生活の質と訳され、人がどれだけ人間らしい生活や自分らしい生活を送り、人生に幸福を見出しているか、ということを尺度としてとらえる概念で、あらゆる分野で広く使われる用語。
